The storm broke at midnight and has not let up. In fact it has grown worse, rain pummeling the metal roof of the house, the porch, and the other buildings on the property. The two windmills in the yard and the field are spinning at an alarming rate, their tails whipping around as the confused wind turns direction again and again. The slant of the rain disregards the porch roof and rushes in from the sides, drenching even the floors up to the house door, while the cats all sit in the window staring out with alarmed and concerned faces. The back porch, though fully enclosed, lets water in from the inadequatly sealed windows and soon the drawers of the cabinets there will splash with the sound of water when opened, but the many bins of wood are dry beneath the lids, all tightly sealed, and the fire place warms me with a reuring heat as it's flames lick the air with greedy tongues. The television murmers softly about serial killers in Daytona, an oddly comforting background noise to the pounding rain-sound on the roof, and I sit at my computer typing away with the hope that power lines will stay up through-out the duration of the storm. Then suddenly silence. The hard fists of rain have become the soft caress of a mother's gentle fingers as snow flurries and skitters to and fro, coating my world in a blanket of muted wind and obscuring the harshness of winter, lulled by it's disguise of soft beauty, I doze.

In San Francisco, it is Alex Smith or Shaun Hill, the tale of two quarterbacks from two ends of the earth. Introducing the 1st challenger, A Utah product, a Number One draft pick, the 40 million dollar man, Alex Smith! In the other corner, a lifetime backup, the minimum wage NFL guru, Shaun Hill! Really, basically the expectations for Smith were WAY over the top, I mean come on.. the next "Montana" ? 6 OC in 6 years. No Receivers. Bad Coaches. Bad O-Line, = Disaster! Shaun Hill, had ABSOLUTELY nothing to lose coming in as a starter, and he succeeded. Basically the 49ers need to figure out how well they want to do. Hill, is pushing 30, he's not going to get any better, but he's a leader. His arm will NOT, and I REPEAT, NOT, get San Francisco into the Super Bowl, he's just not talented enough. However, it is VERY possible he will secure them a playoff spot. Then you've got Alex Smith. He has a really good arm, he could throw the ball far, and when he's on, he's ON! But he lacks leadership and he lacks a sense on urgency and heart. Not to mention when he struggles, he struggles bad. So it's a hit or miss with Smith. 2000 LeSabre Slams into gear initially and every other gear?

I have a 2000 Lesabre. 90,000 miles. When you shift in and out of reverse and park, it slams hard into gear. When shifting under regular driving conditions, it slams in and out of every gear as well. I was driving it today and at one point, it wouldnt come out of 2nd. When i got home, I shifted into park, then back into drive and the motor stalled out, followed by the engine light. It also developed a chrysler minivan like whine. Any ideas here? Ive heard of solenoids causing this problem, but im not 100% sure.

Scale bug infecting a dozen plants, tried everything...?

Tried black ladybugs, tried washing in washing up liquid, I am on the verge of throwing them out. The plants are too large to go over every leaf - although I tried this anyway - some are over five feet with more than several hundred leaves. I could dunk them as a whole in something cheap - that is, something I could fill a tank with - but I have cats so nothing poisonous to them. Try making yourself a schedule for the week and come up with some way to reward yourself for sticking to it and getting everything done. I have some loans with Sallie Mae. I just talked to them today and they said that they no longer consolidate loans and I'd have to go through a separate loan company who would buy my loans from Sallie Mae and consolidate them to get that done. How can I benefit greater from cycling?

I cycle fairly regularly, 2 or 3 times a week, as well as my main sport of football. however i try to cycle in order to build up the strength in my thighs as i suffer from the adolescent injury of osgood-schlatters disease and so dont want to do much more running than i need to. Therefore how would you say is the best way i can benefit from cycling. For example should i be more aggressive when going up hills etc. I cycle the same route pretty much, reasonably hilly usually with a fairly large hill on the way and a reasonable slope for about 400m on the other route. i generally do these in gear 5 and then the top 1 to 4 gears in the more precise gears. many thanks!!

Mythology has become really popular lately. You can definitely try the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. There is also a spinoff series by the same author- Heroes of Olympus. I wouldn't recommend you to feed your puppy the wet can food since there has been a huge recall on them. I have 2 dogs and I used to feed them Eukanuba, but since there was recalled for wet food i switched to Science Diet. It seems that they love it. I am not sure if you mention how old is your puppy. If he/she is too young then you should not feed him/her any dry food since it will be hard for him/her to chew. I will recommend you to feed him/her some rice with meat and veggies. If not you can soak the dry dog food in little water before feeding so it becomes soft. I used to do that when my dogs were 1-2 month old.

Okay, I've had a lot of mild elbow tendinitis at school, and I recommend not playing baseball for a long time. I'm talking seasons. I know it sounds horrible (I play baseball too), but your form of tendinitis sounds really serious, and you just can't afford to reinjure your elbow, because that seriously might take you out of the game forever. The best way to curtail your tendinitis is to rest it as long as possible, and ice it as much as you can. The doctor's advice at this point is pretty good. Hope you get better.

That is VERY common. There is something about the illness that makes you feel safe - even if it's killing you. It is your safety zone. You know deep down that you need help and that if you don't appear sick - even though in reality you actually are - that you won't get the help you need. You need help and are scared of not having the illness and not getting help if left to your own devices. It's like me with drinking at a point in my life. Even when I didn't want to, I was SCARED to get better. So I drank anyway.

I am 14 and for a few months I had what seemed to be an inguinal hernia. I would have pain between my testicles and rectum. the thing is, I didn't have a lump anywhere. and just a day or two ago, Ive been having pains that were not quite as severe, but would seem to come out of nowhere, that lasted all day. they seemed to be most prominent while I was sitting upright. the pain isn't very bad but it is a little bit unnerving, so I would appreciate a serious answer.

How big is the room? Remember that dark colors will make a room seem much smaller. You need to paint the wall purple first. Allow sufficient time for the paint to dry fully. Ideally at least 24 hours. Measure the wall height and length and divide equally. Mark the wall at each end with a light pencil. You may need to put a couple of interim pencil marks to make sure you get a straight line. Use a low tack masking tape to mark out the checker board. you can then paint your black squares. If you decide to use purple and grey, put the lighter color on the wall first. Perhaps paint the other walls in the lighter color. You could add some white accessories to lift the tone of the room, but don't overdo it.

My 13 year old lurcher's rear legs suddenly are causing him pain and he cant hardly walk on them.?

My 13 year old lurcher is usually fine on his legs but since Tuesday evening he seems to have a problem with his rear legs and couldnt stand up for long then suddently this morning (Sunday) he started limping and when he laid down he could not get comfortable and was obviously in pain. i took him to an emergency vet who was pretty useless with information other than giving him a pain killer sedative a couple of diazepam (?sp) for this evening. The sedative calmed him down but he has not been asleep and his breathing is laboured. I tried to move him on the sofa and he yelped in pain when I touched his back legs. He eventually got off the sofa and struggled outside to go to the loo. I am taking him to our usual vetst tomorrow and hope they can suggest something like Metacam. I dont want to give up on him but equally I dont want him to be in pain and stressed. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

i have 2 minuature dachshunds, they are my life, i live for them, suki is 1 and mr chips is nearly 2, they are both crate trained and wont go to the toilet in their crates but if i go out and leave them out of their crates they go to the toilet in the house! and at night, last night, during the night they did 3 poo's!! i fed them the night before, waited half hour, walked them, then walked them again before bed so it shouldnt have been a problem. i live in a flat, its not ideal but its a huge flat, and we go out to the garden pretty much every hour. but when i am out for 2 or 3 hours they go to the toilet in the house and i know they can hold it because they wouldnt do it if they were in the crate! Mr Chips had dominance issues when he was younger, where he would dirty if i closed a door in his face or left him, thats sorted now. they are definatly old enough to know better and i just dont know what to do. i hate the thought of leaving them in their crates when i am out all the time, its not fair, but neither is them pooing all over my floor when i know they can hold it!! any advice people i am open to all coments, views and advice, its really upsetting me now, what do i do? thank you xxx

I have a rare type of synesthesia in which everything leads to a sound frequency for me. I've never spoken to anybody who has the same type of condition or even any kind of auditory synesthesia. I found a Stradivarius violin a few months ago and now I am struggling to decide what to do, suggestions?

I don't want to give many details but I was staying in an upscale hotel on business and there was some sort of black tie charity gala of some sort going on and there was live clical music. I didn't attend, I just noticed it when I was in one of the hotel bars. Anyway it was late and on the way to my room I walked into the hall (it was then empty) just to look around and I saw a violin case sitting by where the orchestra had been seated. In order for someone to call from jail/prison they must have written approval from Security Personal so you can also contact them to let them know you do not want collect calls to your home phone. You might want to check her into a shelter or even renting her a room at the YWCA. It may cost you but at least she would be out of your hair. Especially if it is closer to where her bf is locked up. Another thing is getting her involved with a community program where she can go everyday. He was a doctor and he made this for his patients that were in the hospital to get their grains more easily... Looks like if you grind up corn and make a corn mush, then spread this out in a thin layer and bake it till crisp and dry, then break it up into little flakes, you'll have corn flakes.. How extravagant would you let your matron of honor have for her gown. When I say extravagant I mean like let your bridesmaid have the solid color and then let the matron of honor have the same color but with sequins and beading detail on the gown..is that okay. Peavey bandit 112 buzzing and hissing?
