Should Super Delegates be required to vote as their districts did?

I just receied an e-mail asking me to sign a petition to require the so-called Super Delegates to vote in compliance with the popular vote in their diestricts. On the face of it, it seems reasonable, but I have a question. If the Super Delegates are not free to vote their concience, aren't they just invited guests to the convention? As I recall, the concept of delegate status for high-ranking Democrats was the result of an effort to unseat Mayor Richard J. Daley and his contingent of delegates from Illinois many years ago. The idea was to prevent the party movers and shakers being eliminated from the nominating process. If you bind a delegate to vote in compliance with the popular vote in their district, you have effectively stripped that delegate of his or her participation in the nominating process. In any case, is it really fair and democratic to change rules in the middle of the game?
