Can you rewire a plug in light to wires in ceiling light?

I just bought a small chandelier light for my daughters room. It hangs from the ceiling and I thought it would have wires to connect to ceiling, but instead it came with a plug. Hanging from the ceiling, it will not even reach an outlet. Anyone know how or if u can rewire this to work in the ceiling?
