Okay for a matron of honor gown?

How extravagant would you let your matron of honor have for her gown. When I say extravagant I mean like let your bridesmaid have the solid color and then let the matron of honor have the same color but with sequins and beading detail on the gown..is that okay. I wanted my matron of honor to have a gown that had a little zing to it but is it okay for her to have a gown with detailing like that. We actually found it in the prom section but to me it doesn't look like a teenie boper prom dress. It is a sleek straight gown that goes down to the floor with a v-neck and then it has the beading on it. Would this be okay??
