How To Remove File Virus?

A file on my computer named delete.exe has a virus in it called TROJ_Generic.DIT i currently have Trend Micro Anti virus but its says that it was unable to clean it, but for me to wait until the next security update and try again. currently the file is in quarantine. I was wondering if there was a safe way of removing the virus?
