2000 LeSabre Slams into gear initially and every other gear?

I have a 2000 Lesabre. 90,000 miles. When you shift in and out of reverse and park, it slams hard into gear. When shifting under regular driving conditions, it slams in and out of every gear as well. I was driving it today and at one point, it wouldnt come out of 2nd. When i got home, I shifted into park, then back into drive and the motor stalled out, followed by the engine light. It also developed a chrysler minivan like whine. Any ideas here? Ive heard of solenoids causing this problem, but im not 100% sure.
